NYC Classifieds — Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

• You must be physically located in New York City to create an account (verified via geo-verification).
• You may only create one account. Multiple accounts are prohibited.
• You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

2. Verification

All users must complete our geo-verification process (selfie + GPS check) before posting. By completing verification, you confirm that you are a real person and that you are physically located in New York City. Attempting to spoof, bypass, or fraudulently complete verification will result in an immediate permanent ban.

3. Your Content

You own the content you post on The NYC Classifieds. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote your content on and in connection with the platform.

You are solely responsible for your content. You agree that your posts will:

• Be truthful and not misleading
• Not violate any laws or regulations
• Not infringe on anyone's intellectual property
• Not contain illegal items, services, or offers
• Not include spam, duplicate listings, or manipulative content
• Comply with our Community Guidelines

4. Prohibited Uses

You may not use The NYC Classifieds to:

• Post fraudulent, deceptive, or scam listings
• Post fake, paid-for, or coerced reviews, or interfere with another business's reviews
• Sell illegal items or services
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
• Scrape, crawl, or collect user data without permission
• Interfere with the platform's operation or security
• Create multiple accounts or impersonate another person
• Use automated tools to post content or send messages
• Circumvent any moderation, verification, or security measures

5. Transactions

The NYC Classifieds is a platform that connects users. We are not a party to any transaction between users. We do not verify the quality, safety, or legality of items listed, the truth of listings, or the ability of users to complete transactions. You assume all risk when transacting with other users. We strongly recommend meeting in public places and using secure payment methods.

6. Video Reviews

Reviews on The NYC Classifieds are short videos (up to 60 seconds) with a 1–5 star rating. There are no text-only reviews. A video review can only be posted after you and the business have confirmed that you worked together: you ask to review the business (or accept its invitation) and the other side confirms.

When a review is marked “Transaction confirmed”, it means only that you and the business each confirmed that you worked together. We do not verify that any payment, product, or service changed hands, or the quality or truth of anything said in a review or in a business's reply.

By requesting or posting a review, you agree that:

• You are posting about your own genuine experience with that business, in your own video.
• You are in New York City when you ask to review a business. We check your device's location, and spoofing or bypassing that check is grounds for a permanent ban.
• You will not offer, request, or accept money, gifts, discounts, or anything else in exchange for a review, or for changing or removing one.
• If you are a business, you will not pressure customers to leave positive reviews, ask them to change or remove reviews, retaliate against them for a review, or review yourself or your competitors.
• Your video will not show or record other people without their consent, include private information about anyone, contain nudity, threats, harassment, hate, or illegal content, or use music or other material you do not have the right to use.

You keep ownership of your video review. By posting it, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, distribute, transcribe, and summarize it (including with automated tools and third-party service providers) on and in connection with the platform. Video reviews are public. See our Privacy Policy for how they are handled.

We may hide or remove any review, for example if it breaks these terms or our Community Guidelines, or if we cannot confirm it. A business can reply publicly to a review and can report it, but reporting a review does not remove it; we decide. We do not remove a review only because it is negative. To ask us to remove a review you posted, use our Contact page; we aim to respond within 30 days.

The AI overview shown on a business's profile is generated automatically from review transcripts. It can be incomplete or wrong, and it is not a statement by us or a verified fact — the videos are the source. Reviews and the overview are the opinions of users, and The NYC Classifieds is not responsible for them.

7. Moderation and Enforcement

We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate any account at our discretion, including but not limited to violations of these terms or our Community Guidelines.

8. The Platform

• The NYC Classifieds is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
• We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the platform at any time.
• We are not responsible for any loss of data, revenue, or damages arising from your use of the platform.
• Posting on The NYC Classifieds is free. We reserve the right to introduce optional paid features in the future, but core posting and browsing will remain free.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The NYC Classifieds and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of the platform or any transaction with another user.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The NYC Classifieds and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the platform, your content, or your violation of these terms.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New York County, New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the platform. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
